Editorial, sourcing, and corrections policy

Comedy Austin is an independent local guide operated by Quiet Kitty. Its purpose is to make the Austin metro's live comedy calendar easier to discover, compare, and verify.

Where event facts come from

We prioritize official venue, producer, performer, festival, and ticket-owner pages. When those sources are temporarily unavailable, the calendar can preserve the last verified future listing rather than silently deleting it. Discovery feeds may help identify a show, but public event and ticket links are limited to Comedy Austin pages, official venue pages, or verified ticket destinations.

What we verify

Automated checks normalize dates and times, classify comedy formats, detect likely duplicates, reject stale or irrelevant listings, and retain source health. Protected pages may require a browser-assisted review. Event owners remain the final authority for lineups, admission, age policies, cancellations, and ticket availability.

How highlights are selected

Calendar highlights are chosen to help a reader scan the real variety of Austin comedy. Selection considers format, venue, neighborhood, published price, timing, sold-out state, and whether a listing has enough verified detail to be useful. Placement is not sold and does not imply that one show is objectively the best.

Authorship and automation

The Comedy Austin editorial team reviews guide structure, source quality, and publishing rules. Automation assists with calendar collection, comparison, formatting, and first drafts. We do not use automation as permission to invent facts, mass-produce keyword pages, or rewrite other publications without original value.

Corrections

Venues, producers, performers, and readers can report a wrong date, lineup, price, location, image, or policy at shows@comedyaustin.com. Include the Comedy Austin URL and an official source supporting the correction. Rights and takedown requests may be sent to legal@lagunafoundry.com.

Comedian profiles, links, and images

Profiles use concise original biographies, verified upcoming Austin appearances, and direct performer links. Ambiguous identities are not published or merged, and unsupported career claims are not added.

Direct links are labeled official only after their ownership is supported by the performer's site, the account itself, or another high-confidence first-party source. Public availability alone does not grant image reuse rights. Comedy Austin may display a performer-specific promotional image from an official venue or festival asset host when its provenance is documented and the original remains on that host. Images copied into Austin Comedy storage require performer supply, Austin Comedy ownership, a documented reusable license, or written permission. PunchUp-hosted images, social thumbnails, channel art, and aggregator images are not copied or used as headshots.

Performers and authorized representatives can email shows@comedyaustin.com to correct a profile, add a direct official link, or submit rights-cleared media. Include the profile URL, the requested change, an official supporting source, and—when submitting media—the rights basis, preferred credit, and useful alt text. Profile, image, and privacy removal requests may be sent to legal@lagunafoundry.com.

Independence and conflicts

Comedy Austin may eventually earn revenue through clearly labeled advertising, sponsorship, or referral relationships. Commercial relationships do not buy undisclosed editorial ranking. Material sponsorship will be identified where a reasonable reader would expect disclosure.
