Ancestral Tongue is the monicker of Filipino singer/songwriter, pianist, and multi-disciplinary artist Roqué Marcelo. With an experimental approach to music, Ancestral Tongue weaves together true emotional stories about identity, love, belonging, and personal freedom into songs that mold different genres together.
By combining melodic and rhythmic elements of pop, jazz, classical, folk, latin, and blues styles in various combinations, their songs boldly create their own sonic identity and freshness. Ancestral Tongue calls on the musical traditions of the past and brings them forward into the here and now.
