Comedy Austin venue guide
About ColdTowne Theater
ColdTowne grew from the arrival of New Orleans improvisers in Austin after Hurricane Katrina. The company began teaching in 2005 and opened its theater in 2006, helping make long-form improv and alternative comedy a larger part of the city's performance culture. Today its East Austin room combines improv, sketch, stand-up, classes, and experimental work in a community-focused setting.
What to expect
Expect the experience to reflect the room itself. The audience is usually close to the stage, making timing, crowd energy, and the personality of the host especially important. The published age guidance is all ages, and the venue is currently associated with improv, sketch, and stand-up. Current calendar listings include STOOL PIGEON: STORYTELLING & IMPROV COMEDY, MO COLLINS IS WIGGING OUT, and 1-800-CHANGED-MY-LIFE PRESENTS. Lineups and schedules can change; confirm the selected date, tickets, and admission details with the venue or producer.
