Comedy Austin venue guide
About The Velveeta Room
The Velveeta Room has presented stand-up on East Sixth Street since 1988 and describes itself as Austin's longest-running comedy club. Its compact room became an important proving ground for Texas comics and remains closely identified with sharp local stand-up, visiting performers, and the independent spirit of the older Sixth Street entertainment district.
What to expect
Expect the experience to reflect the room itself. The audience is usually close to the stage, making timing, crowd energy, and the personality of the host especially important. The published age guidance is 18+, and the venue is currently associated with stand-up and open mic. Current calendar listings include Austin All-Stars, The Houston Takeover, and Cocktails and Comedy. Lineups and schedules can change; confirm the selected date, tickets, and admission details with the venue or producer.
Planning your visit
The Velveeta Room is listed at 521 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78701. Check the individual event page before leaving for the latest start time, ticket status, age policy, and room information. Comedy Austin presents the useful planning details in one place while leaving ticket sales and final policies with the venue itself.
