About Matt Bearden
Matt Bearden is an Austin stand-up comedian and broadcaster whose career links several eras of the city's comedy scene. A University of Texas graduate, he returned to Austin after working in Los Angeles and won Funniest Person in Austin in 2002.
Bearden became closely associated with Cap City through PUNCH!, the long-running weekly showcase he curated and hosted. The room paired established performers with developing local comics and became an important gathering point for Austin stand-up.
His work also includes the MTV series Austin Stories and years in Austin morning radio, now as part of Mornings with Matt and Bob on KLBJ-FM. Those broadcast and television credits sit alongside, rather than replace, his role as a local stand-up and show builder.
